The Houston Astros went on the road looking to get back on the winning train by taking on one of the hottest teams in baseball, the Baltimore Orioles.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Houston Astros were held hitless until the fourth inning when Jose Altuve drew a walk on eight pitches. Then Yordan Alvarez singled to score Altuve and break up the no-hitter as well as the shutout. Later in the inning, the newest Astro Ben Gamel hit an RBI single of his own to score Yainer Daiz and push Houston ahead 2-0.

The Astros extended their lead in the sixth with a four-run frame that started with another RBI single from Gamel to score Alvarez. Later, Jake Meyers reached on an error that scored Victor Caratini before Shay Whitcomb had a two-run single to score Gamel and Jake Meyers to make it a 6-0 game.

Spencer Arrighetti was solid once again in his start tonight, pitching six complete innings with just three hits and six strikeouts on the night.

Caleb Ferguson came in to close the door as the Astros ended their two-game losing streak with a shutout 6-0 win over the Orioles.

BIG NUMBER: 4

The four-run sixth inning essentially put the game away for Houston, pushing far enough ahead of the Orioles.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Spencer Arrighetti

The former Louisiana Ragin Cajuns star pitched six innings of scoreless baseball, giving up just three hits with six strikeouts.

UP NEXT: Game 2 of this four-game series between the Astros and the Orioles takes place on Friday. First pitch from Camden Yards is set for 6:05 and can be heard on ESPN 103.7 Lafayette and 104.1 Lake Charles.
