ASTROS GAMER: Houston gets series win over Arizona in Game 3

Posted by Louis Prejean on September 20, 2020 in Blogs, Featured, Houston Astros, Latest News

The Houston Astros earn the series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks after losing game one.

How It Happened:

It was the final home game of the season and George Springer led the Astros to the win with his performance late in the contest.

Springer hit an inside-the-park home run in the sixth inning off of Taylor Widener. That marked his second career inside-the-park homer.

He wasn’t done yet as Springer hit another home run in the following inning to tie the game at 2.

Carlos Correa gave the Astros the lead in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly to drive in Alex Bregman. Ryan Pressley earned the save for Houston after pitching a scoreless ninth inning for the Astros. That was his 12th save of the year.

It was a comeback win for the Astros after Nick Ahmed hit a home run in the fifth inning off of Houston’s Jose Urquidy to give the Diamondbacks a 2-1 lead.

Player of the Game: George Springer

George Springer led the Astros back after trailing 2-1 and homered in two runs on his own. His home run in the seventh inning was the 2,000th homer by an Astros player inside Minute Maid Park since it opened in 2000.

Big Number: 27

The game three win gave the Houston Astros their 27th of the shortened season. They are now 27-26 for the year and they are second in the AL West.

Up Next: Houston begins a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners on Monday, Sept. 21; First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m.
