After a strong end to the first half of the season, the Houston Astros returned from the All-Star break to the Pacific Northwest, meeting up with their division foe, the Seattle Mariners.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Houston got set up in the third inning with a leadoff double from Trey Cabbage before Jose Altuve reached on a bunt, then a throwing error allowed Cabbage to score for the first run of the game. Later in the inning, Alex Bregman and Yordan Alvarez walked before Yainer Diaz hit a two-run single to make it a 3-0 game.
Seattle tried to answer in the bottom half by loading the bases, but Hunter Brown was able to get out of the jam and keep the Mariners off the board.
Brown continued to have a strong outing, going six innings with no runs, four hits, three walks, and five strikeouts on the night to get the Astros off to a good start during the weekend.
Bryan Abreu, Ryan Pressley, and Josh Hader were able to come in and finish off the win, sealing game one with a 3-0 final.

A pair of errors by the Mariners allowed the Astros to score runs and jump out to a 3-0 lead after the third inning.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Hunter Brown
The young pitcher for the Astros had a strong first outing back after the All Star Break, pitching six scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
