The Houston Astros are just one step closer to the American League Championship Series after their big 5-2 victory over the Oakland A’s on Tuesday afternoon.
How It Happened:
Khris Davis got Oakland back out in front early in the contest with a solo shot out to center field to take an early lead. However, George Springer took the lead away from them pretty quickly in the top of the third with a two-run blast to left center.
Carlos Correa increased the Astros lead in the fourth when he grounded out to Marcus Semien, but it was enough to get Michael Brantley across home plate making it a 3-1 ballgame. Chad Pinder did cut into the lead in the bottom frame with a solo shot out to right-center.
The home runs kept coming in the fifth for Houston starting with a solo shot from Martin Maldonado and Springer connected with another dinger right after Manaea was replaced for Yusmeiro Petit.
