There are times in the Postseason when you have to dig yourself out of a corner.

The Houston Astros were able to do just that tonight in Game 2 of the World Series, winning 5-2 over the Philadelphia Phillies behind a gem from Framber Valdez and a two-run home run from Alex Bregman to tie the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game opened with a double by Jose Altuve, who has struggled mightily in the postseason. Jeremy Pena doubled Altuve home before coming home himself on a Yordan Alvarez double to make it 2-0 Astros early in the contest. Later in the inning, Alvarez scored on a throwing error by Edmundo Sosa to increase the lead to 3-0.

Framber Valdez started the contest for Houston, who is in need of a win trailing 1-0 in the World Series. Valdez has been a constant force for the pitching rotation, pitching the Astros to a win in his previous two postseason starts.

In the fifth, Alex Bregman extended the lead to 5-0 with a 405-foot moonshot for a two-run home run.

The Phillies were able to put themselves on the board in the seventh inning when Jean Segura hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Nick Castellanos, but the Astros still held a 5-1 lead going into the seventh-inning stretch.

The Phillies were able to scratch across another run off a Yuli Gurriel error to make it 5-2 but Ryan Pressley shut the door and tied the series for the Astros.

BIG NUMBER: 10

The Astros have now scored five runs in each of the first two games in this Fall Classic, with tonight’s game being a winning result for Space City.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Framber Valdez

Valdez pitched a seven-inning gem in the Juice Box tonight, only allowing four hits and one earned run.

UP NEXT: The Astros will travel to Philadelphia to continue the Fall Classic against the Phillies. Game Three is Monday and first pitch is set for 7:03 p.m.
