Ball State’s Bats Overpower LSU

Posted by clintdomingue on March 11, 2016 in Latest News

The Ball State Cardinals (8-7) bats were too much for LSU on Friday night on the way to a 7-1 loss.

Jarett Rindfleisch got the Cardinals on the board with the first of two home runs for the junior catcher in the top of the second.

Alex Call kept the runs coming with a two-run bomb to left center field \to go up 3-0 in the top of the third.

Rindfleisch went yard again in the sixth, landing in almost the same spot as the previous home run. Sean Kennedy decided to go yard as well later in the inning that went to left field to put Bal State up 5-0.

The Tigers finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth off an RBI double from Cole Freeman.

Call and Stayton finished the job in the top of the seventh with a pair of runs and it was enough to take the first game of the weekend series.

Jared Poche dropped to 2-1 on the year allowing five runs off of eight hits and struck out four in 5 and two-thirds innings of work.

The Tigers (10-3) will try and bounce back on Saturday night in game two with first pitch pushed back to 6:30 pm due to inclement weather.
