Redshirt senior wide receiver Bam Jackson is preparing for his final season as a Louisiana Ragin Cajun with a trip to Sun Belt Media Days. The Laplace native joined Bumper to Bumper Sports on Monday and talked about his journey and how his injury during his freshman season was a blessing in disguise.

“When I first came in, I had big dreams of starting as a true freshman and things got derailed when I got hurt my freshman year. Going through all of that early on in my career was worth it. It molded me into what I am today.”

Jackson also delved into what this wide receiver group will look like during year two under Billy Napier and more importantly, what aspect of his game he’s improved on.

“I feel like I’m a better route runner now that it’s the second go-round with the offense because I know it more. That means I can play a whole lot faster and I’ve been working on that all offseason.

“We’ve got a chance to be one of the best in the conference. Guys like myself, Calif, JaMarcus, Bryan, Jamal Bell and some of the other guy’s work. We put in work together every day. We’re not worried about our touches. The only time we’re worried about touches is when we’re trying to help. When our running game is shut down, we’re like ‘Hey, we need to throw the ball to help get our running backs out’. We’re just ready to blow up this year.”

Listen in to the full interview for his thoughts on having the head coach as an offensive coordinator, dreaming of playing in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and more.
