The LSU Tigers had a good title defense in 2024 before falling short in the final of the Chapel Hill Regional. With a top recruiting class and players back from injury, what will the Tigers look like in 2025?
Head Coach: Jay Johnson (4th year)
2024 Record: 43-23 (13-17 SBC)
2024 Postseason Result: Lost in Regional Final
2025 Preseason Ranking: 4th in SEC
LOTS OF UNPROVEN TALENT
LSU, two years removed from capturing the national title, has signed a top recruiting class in both high school and transfer rankings. With big names like William Schmidt, Derek Curiel, and more coming to town, there’s plenty to like about the roster on paper.
However, much of it is largely unproven and will take much of the non conference slate to see what Jay Johnson and his staff truly have.
A MONSTER RISE
Steven Milam showed up as a freshman in Baton Rouge and immediately made an impact as a great defender and hitter. Perhaps some of his most elite moments came during the Chapel Hill Regional where he hit multiple home runs to keep LSU alive in the postseason.
Can “Monster” ride the wave of momentum from last season into a hot start in 2025?
PITCHING DEPTH
Its no question that LSU has a lot of key arms to test out their brand new bullpen in 2025. From Schmidt to Anthony Eyanson, Chase Shores, Kade Anderson, and others, the Tigers have the pitching department set.
A lot of the biggest questions regarding pitching is how the rotation will shape up, but there are plenty of options.
The LSU Tigers begin their 2025 season on Friday afternoon at 2:00 PM inside Alex Box Stadium when they welcome Purdue Fort Wayne on ESPN Southwest Louisiana.
