All it took was one pitch to get LSU’s (22-13, 7-6 SEC) offense going. That first pitch was the first of many that the Tigers took care of en route to a 9-3 win over the Tennessee Volunteers.
How It Happened
Beau Jordan was chosen as the leadoff guy a little before warmups and took the first pitch he saw yard to take an early 1-0. LSU pushed two more runs across later in the inning highlighted by an RBI single from Austin Bain.
Jake Slaughter got things going yet again in the bottom of the second with a solo shot of his own out to center field, making it 4-0. The Tigers lead continued to increase with two more runs coming later in the inning.
LSU really put the game out of reach in the third when Hunter Feduccia and Slaughter went back-to-back with solo shots, making it 8-0.
Zach Hess improved to 6-3 on the year allowing one run off of three hits in seven innings of work. The sophomore also walked one and struck out eight on the evening.
Big Number: 4
Four home runs, are you kidding me? This team definitely ate their Wheaties on Friday night, especially Slaughter with two home runs of his own. When the Tigers offense is clicking, look out
Player of the Game: Jake Slaughter
The man had two home runs on the evening and was one of three players to blast one out of Alex Box Stadium. It’s not often you see someone do something like that and it’s something to take note of.
