Benches Clear and Tempers Flare in Astros Loss to Dodgers

It was inevitable that tensions were going to be high for Tuesday night’s contest. The Houston Astros (3-2) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (3-2) hadn’t faced off since the 2017 World Series which has since been marred by the sign-stealing scandal and in a 5-2 loss for Houston the intensity turned up in a hurry.

The bottom of the sixth inning was when things started to get heated with relief pitcher Joe Kelly throwing toward Alex Bregman’s head on a 3-0 count. That wasn’t it though because when Correa struck out to end the inning, Kelly said something towards the former number-one pick causing both benches to clear.

It wasn’t the greatest night for the Astros on the diamond with only one other player not named Correa, who went three-for-four and a home run in the bottom of the second, recording a hit. The Dodgers pulled out in front in the top of the third with a five-run inning that was highlighted by a pair of RBI singles from Justin Turner and Cody Bellinger and never relented that lead.

The Astros and Dodgers will wrap up the two-game interleague series tomorrow night with first pitch set for 6:10 pm,
