LSU Eunice Baseball struck for a seven-run inning to help catapult the Bengals past Wharton County JC 13-3 in eight innings on Monday at Bengal Stadium. The Bengals (45-3) notched their 18th run-rule victory of the season and sixth since the start of the month of April.
The offensive barrage began with authority as Alexander Saunier pounded a two-run home run in the third inning to put LSUE on the scoreboard first. Wharton County would answer with an unearned run off a two-out error but not before the Bengals punched back in emphatic fashion.
LSUE would rip off a seven-run fourth inning, headlined by a pair of bases-loaded two-run singles by Parker Coley and Nick Duplechain. Those big hits were sandwiched between a Dawson Willis RBI single and Korey Cooper RBI bunt single. The Bengals used four free passes and five hits in the inning.
The Pioneers would stave off a run-rule with two runs in the sixth but the Bengals were back to the offensive an inning later. Zachary Thomas punched a two-run single to make it 11-3 Bengals. LSUE would secure the early win as Tanner Vadnais and Bennett Clement ripped off a pair of pinch-hit RBI doubles.
Four different Bengals would log multi-hit games in LSUE’s 15-hit output.
Lost in the offensive numbers was another strong outing Aiden Vosburg. The sophomore improved to 6-0 on the season after tossing 5.2 innings, giving up three runs off four hits while not issuing a walk. He would strike out five batters.
Liam Watt and Nick Gisclair would combine for 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, each giving up a hit with no walks.
LSU Eunice closes out the remainder of the regular season on the road, beginning this weekend with a three-game series against Delgado CC starting on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
