Thursday night was a big test for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (16-3, 6-0 Sun Belt) on the road taking on UT Arlington (12-8, 3-4 Sun Belt). It’s safe to say that they were able to pass that test with flying colors, overcoming a double-digit deficit at the break to come away with a 77-65 victory.
The Cajuns came out of the gates slow going 2-of-14 from the field and that gave the Mavericks a chance to make it 18-4 before the first media timeout. The Cajuns were able to bring the lead down to two points, but wound up going cold in the final moments of the first half and headed into the locker room down 44-32.
Whatever Bob Marlin said in the locker room worked as the Cajuns went on an 18-6 run to start the second half to take a 53-52 lead. Frank Bartley put the exclamation point on the biggest comeback of the season with a layup with 26 seconds left in the ballgame.
The Cajuns will look to complete the Texas Two-Step on Saturday when they take on Texas State (13-7, 6-1 Sun Belt) with tipoff set for 4:30 pm.
