The LSU Tigers continued to start off the 2016-17 season on the right foot on Tuesday night with a 78-61 win behind a big game from Antonio Blakeney.
After an early back and forth between the two teams, LSU began to pull away with a 10-2 run at around the halfway mark of the first half and would continue to keep the Golden Eagles at bay. At one point, the Tigers were up by as much as 14 and headed into the locker room at halftime with a comfortable 37-25 lead.
The Golden Eagles responded in a big way with an 10-3 run in the first four minutes of the second half to cut the lead down to single digits. However, LSU responded just as quickly to get the lead back to double digits with a quick run which was followed up by poor shooting from Southern Miss who only nailed one shot from behind the arc in the second half.
The Tigers (2-0) will stay in the PMAC on Friday night when they take on North Florida (1-1) with tipoff set for 8 pm.
