Brees, Davis, Holiday Highlight Forbes’ List of Richest Athletes

Drew Brees, Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday have a lot more in common than you think. All three are professional athletes in New Orleans and they are paid quite a bit to perform at the highest possible level.

Forbes released its annual list of highest-paid athletes on Tuesday with each ranking in the Top 100 in the world.

Brees was ranked at 27th at $42.4 million. The money breaks down with $26.4 million coming from his salary with the Saints as their starting quarterback and $16 million in endorsements. It’s also the sixth highest of all NFL players.

Davis reportedly pulled in $34.6 million and was ranked 39th. His breaks down to $25.6 million in his salary, but only $9 million in endorsements.

Holiday closes out the triad of New Orleans athletes ranked 76th with $27.6 million, $27.1 million of which came from his on the court earnings

Topping the Forbes list is Lionel Messi, who earned $129 million in the last year. The top three earning athletes are all from the sport of soccer.
