The Astros Foundation will host the second annual Cactus Jack HBCU Classic, a round-robin style tournament highlighting Historically Black Colleges and Universities on February 16-18 at Minute Maid Park.
The Classic will take place during the opening weekend of college baseball in 2024. The sic schools are Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Southern, Grambling, Jackson State, and Alcorn State.
The tournament will feature in-state rivalries with Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M, Southern and Grambling, and Jackson State and Alcon State. All three of those games will be played on Saturday, February 17.
The Cactus Jack HBCU Classic will include other events in conjunction with the nine games. A college fair will be hosted by the Astros Youth Academy on February 17 as well as a Divine 9/HBCU Alum Happy Hour, an Old School party, and a Gospel breakfast throughout the weekend.
