The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns softball program nearly swept all the end-of-the-season superlatives that were doled out by the Sun Belt Conference on Monday.
Summer Ellyson and Ciara Bryan received Sun Belt Pitcher and Player of the Year Honors, respectively. Bryan, who transferred from the University of Georgia to play for the Cajuns, also received Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year.
Louisiana also earned eight All-Sun Belt selections, the third-most in the history of the program. Bryan and Ellyson were named to the first-team all-conference alongside Kandra Lamb and Kendall Talley.
Kaitlyn Alderink, Alissa Dalton, Justice Milz and Julie Rawls each received a spot on the All-Sun Belt Second Team.
The 14th-ranked Cajuns are set to play in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at Troy’s softball complex on Wednesday and will play the winner of Coastal Carolina and UL Monroe with first pitch set for for 10:30 am.
