The Ragin Cajuns continued to perform poorly on the road on Friday night, this time suffering a 79-59 loss to Pepperdine (7-4).
The Cajuns started off strong early on with an 8-2 run, but the Waves responded quickly with an 11-3 run to take the lead. However, the Cajuns were able to escape the first half with a 34-33 lead.
Pepperdine completely dominated the Cajuns and put the game away with about 12 minutes in regulation thanks to a 12-0 run that was capped off with a Stacy Davis three-pointer. The Waves kept a double digit lead the rest of the way.
Jett Raines led the way for Pepperdine with 21 points, three boards, and a steal on the night. Davis wasn’t far behind with a double-double. The senior forward had 17 points, 12 boards, four assists, and two blocks.
Shawn Long led the Cajuns with another double-double for the senior. Long stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 14 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and two blocks on the night.
The Cajuns (3-6, 0-1 Sun Belt) will be returning to the familiar confines of the Cajundome on December 21 to take on the UNO Privateers (3-6) with tipoff set for 7 pm.
