Cajuns Fall to UT Arlington In Game One of Doubleheader

Cajuns

The Ragin Cajuns couldn’t capitalize on getting nine hits on Saturday afternoon, falling to UT Arlington (23-20, 9-10 SBC) 4-1 in the first game of a doubleheader.

McLemore got the Mavericks on the board in the bottom of the third with a solo shot to left field.

The Cajuns tied things up in the top of the sixth with a sac fly to left field by Alex Pinero that allowed Stefan Trosclair to scamper home. But the Mavericks quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning when Rohrbaugh hit a single to right field and that gave McLean the opportunity to get home to give the Mavs the lead again. Hollie got another run across later in the inning with a single to the same position that would score Turner.

Minjarez put the nail in the coffin in the bottom of the eighth with a single up the middle that would score McLemore.

Gunner Leger dropped to 5-3 on the year allowing three runs off of seven hits, walked three, and struck out two in five and two thirds innings of work.

The Cajuns (27-16, 12-7 SBC) will try to avoid the twinbill sweep later today with first pitch set for 5:30 pm.
