The Sun Belt Conference released preseason honors yesterday and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns had a player represented on the men’s and women’s side.
For the men, it was point guard Themus Fulks who was selected Preseason First Team All-Sun Belt. Fulks is a redshirt junior who transferred in from Dodge City Community College last season. In his first season with the Cajuns, he led the team in assists and helped lead the team to a Sun Belt Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s team was selected 5th out of 14 teams in the preseason poll, receiving two first-place votes.
On the women’s side, Lanay Wheaton earned preseason Second Team All Sun-Belt honors. Wheaton is a junior who led the team in scoring with just over 12 points per game last season. She will look to lead the offense once again this year.
The Cajuns’ women’s team was selected to finish 6th out of 14 teams in the preseason poll.
The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns men’s team opens play with an exhibition on October 30th against UT Tyler at home. The women’s team opens up with Spring Hill at home on November 6th.
