With three out of four dominating periods by the Cajuns they come out on top with a 55-48 win over the Houston Cougars.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Louisiana came out with a huge start as they put up eight points uncontested. The Cougars from Houston tried to contest with a 7-2 run of their own to bring the score to 8-7 with Louisiana holding the lead.
With two made free throws by Lanay Wheaton and a three-point jumper by De’Myla Brown of Houston, the score came to its first tie. Yet, the Cajuns didn’t stop there as they went on another 6-0 run before the end of the first period 16-10.
Louisiana kept the momentum going in the second period, as they took down an 11-2 run over the Cougars to strengthen their lead to 12. Houston could only get a two-point and three-point jumper to shorten their deficit to ten. With only :24 left on the clock, Lanay Wheaton shot down a two-point jumper to end the first half 29-17.
The Cajuns struck again as they started the third period with another 7-0 run in which the Cougars came back with their own 7-0 for a 36-24 deficit to keep all of the momentum in the Cajuns’ court. By the end of the third, Louisiana kept hold of its lead and broadened it to fifteen.
The final period came and it seemed as if the Cougars were pushing hard to quiet the Cajuns with a 10-5 starting run of their own. As the last 3:45 went by the battle ended with a 12-9 run led by Houston to end the game with a win for Louisiana 55-48.

Between the two programs they put together a total of 45 fouls with 26 by Houston and 19 by Louisiana.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Tamera Johnson
Johnson led the Cajuns with 15 points and almost a double-double with 8 rebounds.
