Louisiana traveled to San Marcos, Texas needing a win to make it to a bowl game for the fifth consecutive season. Chandler Fields threw two touchdowns and Zeon Chriss made his Louisiana debut as the Cajuns took down the Bobcats 41-13.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Texas State opened the scoring with a 38-yard field goal by Seth Keller to make it 3-0 Bobcats. Louisiana answered nearly seven minutes later with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Chandler Fields to Chris Smith to make it 7-3 in favor of the Cajuns.
Seth Keller hit a second field goal, this time from 40 yards out to cut the lead to 7-6 before Louisiana ripped off 13 straight points. It started with a 33-yard field goal by Kenneth Almendares before Eric Garror intercepted Layne Hatcher and gave the Cajuns the ball at the Texas State 11. Two plays later, Dre’Lyn Washington ran it in from eight yards out to make it 17-6.
Right before the half, Almendares hit a 27-yarder as the half came to an end to increase the Cajuns’ lead to 20-6.
Louisiana opened the second half with a one-yard touchdown run by Smith to push the lead to 27-6. However, the Bobcats answered quickly with a 64-yard touchdown run by Lincoln Pare to cut the lead to 14 at 27-13 with six minutes left.
Louisiana found the endzone once again early in the fourth when Fields found Peter Leblanc in the flat for the three-yard score to make it 34-13. Later in the quarter, Zeon Chriss threw his first collegiate touchdown when he found Lance Legendre for a 37-yard strike to make it 41-13 with less than three minutes remaining in the contest.

Louisiana averaged 6.7 yards per play tonight in San Marcos, which helped lead to their offensive dominance and secure a bowl bid.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Chandler Fields
Fields orchestrated the offense well in the season finale, passing for 187 yards on 16-26 passing while also rushing for 28 yards. The New Orleans native threw for two touchdowns.
