The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns women’s basketball team fell to the East Texas A&M Lions 72-45 on Tuesday inside the Cajundome. The matchup was the 12th Annual Education Day Game for the Louisiana program, with more than 4,000 area students in attendance.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The game began with a slow start offensively for the Cajuns, and East Texas A&M taking advantage. They jumped out to an 8-4 lead, which was one they would not relinquish in the first half.

Leading scorer for the Lions Reza Po delivered as usual, scoring 11 first-half points on 4-6 shooting from the field. Imani Daniel led the Cajuns with six, but East Texas A&M took a 32-22 lead into the halftime break.

To start the second half, the Cajuns got four straight points, lowering the deficit to six. However, that was the closest they would get. The Lions extended the lead back out and by the end of the third, they had the lead at a comfortable 13 points.

Down the stretch, things went further south for the home team. The Lions extended the lead and closed things out for a 72-47 win.

BIG NUMBER: 26

Louisiana shot just 26% from the floor in this game. Their shots were not falling from the beginning, and they struggled to keep pace as a result of the poor shooting.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Reza Po

Po was dynamic at the point guard spot, leading all scorers with 20 points. She did so on an efficient 7-11 from the field and 4-5 from three-point range.

UP NEXT: The Cajuns will remain home to host Morehead State on Sunday, November 7th at 4:00 PM.
