After falling to Baylor last night, Louisiana travelled over to College Station for another Top 25 matchup with #21 Texas A&M. Louisiana scored two off of a pair of solo home runs, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Aggies took down the Cajuns 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Aggies got on the board first in this game when Trinity Cannon hit a cannon of a home run to left center off of Karly Heath to make it 1-0 A&M. However, Alexa Langliers tied it right back up for the Cajuns in the second inning with her own solo shot to left center to even the score at 1-1.
In the second, A&M added a pair of runs thanks to an RBI single from Julia Cotrrill that made it 3-1 Aggies before Laney Credeur hit a solo homer to center and cut into the lead at 3-2. After three more base hits, Louisiana was attacking with the bases loaded but Texas A&M was able to get out of the jam.
In the bottom half of the fourth, A&M loaded the bases themselves and the Cajuns walked in a run to make it 4-2 Aggies but Meghan Schorman came in and was able to get Louisiana out of the jam with minimal damage.
Louisiana was able to get Karly Heath on to bring the tying run to the plate, but the Aggies were able to finish it off and win 4-2.
BIG NUMBER: 2
Louisiana committed a pair of errors in tonight’s contest, which proved to be critical in the 4-2 loss.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Laney Credeur
Credeur launched a homer in the fourth and a single in the fifth, continuing her hot run of form for the Cajuns. However, A&M was just too much for Louisiana.
UP NEXT: Louisiana will return to Lamson Park for a three-game series against Texas State. First pitch Friday evening is set for 6:00 p.m.
