Louisiana returned to the Cajundome looking to get back in the win column as they hosted Sun Belt newcomer Old Dominion. Lanay Wheaton continued her dominance by leading the Cajuns to a 61-51 win over the Monarchs.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
At the first media timeout, Louisiana held an 11-5 advantage over the Monarchs of Old Dominion. Lanay Wheaton led the way for the Cajuns with five points and three rebounds while Louisiana shot 71% from the field in the first five minutes.
After the first quarter, Louisiana held a comfortable 15-8 lead over Old Dominion. Wheaton continued to lead all scorers with seven points.
ODU went on a nice run in the second quarter, hitting six of their eight field goals before the media timeout. With 3:52 remaining, Louisiana still managed to hold a 25-20 lead.
At the half, Louisiana found themselves down 26-25 after a 10-0 Monarchs run to close out the half. The Cajuns shot 61% in the first half, but 17 first-half turnovers were the difference.
Throughout the third quarter, Louisiana outscored ODU 18-12 to take a 43-38 lead at the break. Lanay Wheaton continued her dominant night with 19 points on 8-14 shooting.
During the fourth, Louisiana and ODU continued to battle each other with a 49-48 lead with 4:42 left in the game. The Cajuns outscored the Monarchs 12-3 over the final stretch to secure the 61-51 victory.

Wheaton led the way for the Cajuns with 20 points on 8-15 shooting. She also added two steals, three rebounds, and an assist.
