Award watch list season began in earnest on Monday with the Maxwell and Bednarik Award Watch Lists being unveiled and a pair of Cajuns landed on both lists.
Cajuns quarterback Levi Lewis was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List while safety Bralen Trahan was named to the Bednarik Award Watch List, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Monday.
The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. “Tiny” Maxwell, has been given to America’s College Player of the Year since 1937. Maxwell’s contributions to the game of football were extensive, including time as a player, a sportswriter and an official.
Lewis is coming off of a big 2020 season for Louisiana that included an upset victory over Iowa State. The Scotlandville product threw for over 2,200 yards and 19 touchdowns.
The Bednarik Award is presented annually to the outstanding defensive player in college football.
Trahan, a product of Acadiana High, is coming off of a very impressive junior season with 48 combined tackles and four interceptions.
