The Ragin Cajuns hopes for making a bowl for the fifth consecutive year faded away on Saturday afternoon.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers outplayed the Ragin Cajuns in Boone, North Carolina, winning by the score of 28-7.
The Mountaineers struck first with a quick march down the field that was capped off by Marcus Cox pushing himself into the endzone for an early 7-0 lead.
Cox did it again after a very methodical 15-play drive for the Mountaineers strolling into the endzone from one yard out to go up 14-0 early in the second quarter.
Jalin Moore got in on the action midway through the third quarter when he broke off a 54 yard run for the score.
Taylor Lamb put the nail in the coffin with a fourth quarter pass to Michael Moll from two yards out.
But the Cajuns avoided getting shut out when true freshman Jordan Davis came into the game and showed off his speed running into the endzone with under a minute to go in the game.
The Cajuns (4-6, 3-3 Sun Belt) will try to salvage their season with a matchup against the Troy Trojans (3-8, 2-5 Sun Belt) at Cajun Field with kickoff set for 4 pm.
