Cajuns Overpowered by Southern Miss

Posted by clintdomingue on April 26, 2016 in Latest News

Cajuns

The Ragin Cajuns were simply overpowered on Tuesday night with a pair of homers in the fifth by Southern Miss (30-12) and would wind up losing 7-2 at the end of the night.

The Cajuns started out strong in the top of the second with a two run double to center field from Brad Antchak to give them the edge early on.

The Eagles responded in the bottom of the third when Hunter Slater hit a single to center field and that would push a run across to cut the Cajuns lead in half.

But the Eagles weren’t done; in the bottom of the fifth, Tim Lynch blasted a three-run shot over the right field wall to give Southern Miss the lead. Later in the inning, Chase Scott sent another one out of the park, this time it went to left field to get two runs across.

Storme Cooper put the nail in the coffin in the bottom of the eighth with a single right up the middle that got another run across.

Guillory dropped to 4-4 on the year allowing six runs off of eight hits, walked two and struck out three in five innings of work.

The Cajuns (27-14) will head back to the Tigue to take on Louisiana Tech (24-13) on Wednesday with first pitch set for 6 pm.
