The Cajuns were ice cold on Saturday and it gave the Texas State Bobcats (11-13, 5-10 SBC) the opportunity to hand this squad their third straight loss.
After a brief back and forth, the Bobcats dominated with a 19-3 run early on. The Cajuns attempted to cut away at the lead late in the first half, but the mountain was too tall to climb as they headed into the locker room at the half down 37-23. The Cajuns shot an abysmal 20 percent from the field and went 1-for-5 from the arc in the first half.
The Cajuns began to rally late in the first half, making it a one-possession game with six minutes left in regulation with a 9-2 run. However, the rally was stopped with two missed shots in the final seconds by Kasey Shepherd and Johnathan Stove respectively.
Stove led the Cajuns with 14 points, three boards, and one assist on the afternoon. Bryce Washington was right behind him with 13 points, 13 boards, one assist, one block, and one steal.
Emani Gant led the Bobcats with 19 points, eight boards, one assist, and one block.
The Cajuns (14-11, 10-6 SBC) will try to snap the losing streak in Alabama on Thursday when they take on Troy (9-18, 4-12 SBC) with tipoff set for 7:30 pm.
