Cajuns Shut Out For First Time Since 2002 By App State

Cajuns

It’s been a long time since the Ragin Cajuns had been shut out. So long in fact, the last time it happened was in the first year of the Bustle era against North Texas. But in 2016, it wasn’t a good night for the Cajuns as they got embarrassed by App State on national television by the score of 24-0.

After the Cajuns were forced to go three and out, the Mountaineers wasted no time establishing dominance thanks to good field position after a poor punt from Steven Coutts with a deep pass from Taylor Lamb to Shaedon Meadors to get the ball to the Cajuns two. Jalin Moore would get the first points of the contest with a run into the endzone.

The next drive for the Mountaineers would be a lot longer but that didn’t stop them from getting points with a chip shot from Michael Rubino to make it 10-0 in the first quarter.

The Mountaineers had another successful drive that found the endzone with Jalin Moore breaking out with a 41-yard run to continue to put the hurt on the Cajuns.

The Cajuns sole scoring opportunity came from Stevie Artigue who knocked a 49-yarder off the left upright to keep the Cajuns at zero points. Taylor Lamb put the nail in the coffin with a short pass to Collin Reed. The score remained that way through halftime and would be your final score.

The Cajuns (2-4, 1-2 SBC) will try and pick up the pieces next Saturday when they hit the road to San Marcos to take on Texas State (2-3, 0-1 SBC) with kickoff set for 6 pm.
