The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (1-4) were looking to open up their home slate on the right foot after a tough road trip to Austin last weekend and a loss to Southeastern on Wednesday. However, the Cajuns had a rough start in the first inning and were unable to come back from the deficit and fell the Wright State (1-3) 8-2 on Friday.
The Raiders took advantage of some early miscues with Matt Morrow scoring off of a throwing error by O’Neal Lochridge to make it 1-0. It quickly became 3-0 later in the first when Gabe Snyder hit a two-run triple out to right center field. After Snyder scored off a groundout by Weatherford, Wright State made it 4-0 in the third with an RBI double from Seth Gray.
The Cajuns tried to chip away at the lead in the bottom of the third with Gavin Bourgeois putting them on the board in the third with a groundout that got Kennon Fontenot across home plate. Hayden Cantrelle followed up with a sac fly to manufacture another run. However, Snyder put the final nail in the Cajuns coffin with an RBI double out to right field.
Jack Burk falls to 0-2 on the season, allowing three earned runs off of five hits, walked one, and struck out four in seven innings of work.
The Cajuns will try to even up the series on Saturday with first pitch set for 2 pm.
