In two regular season games, Carencro has now posted 83 points. The Golden Bears’ offense, led by first-year coordinator Gavin Peters, is striking in a variety of ways.
En route to a 41-0 win over NISH Friday night, Carencro totaled 485 yards, including 318 yards on the ground on 43 carries.
But the passing game is in tune as well.
Senior Austen Breaux started at quarterback, as he will continue to, but sophomore Tavion Faulk saw decent minutes as well. Combined they passed for 167 yards and several touchdowns through the air on an efficient 8-of-12 night.
The main recipient during this young season is sophomore wide-out Kelan Helaire, now with four receiving touchdowns on the campaign.
All of the offensive success has been made possible by a much-improved line, which will be put to the test this Friday by a tough, battle-tested Acadiana team on the road.
It is without question one of the best rivalry games in the area, and you can hear the action, beginning with the Pregame Show at 6:30 PM, on Z-105.9.
