The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns got themselves a huge win in the Sun Belt West on Saturday night at Cajun Field.
They had to come back from a nine point deficit and used big plays in all three phases to get it done over Texas State. Two of those performances have been recognized with weekly awards.
First, it was quarterback Zeon Chriss who was named one of the Manning “Stars of the Week.” The award recognizes the best quarterback performances of the week in college football. There are eight players recognized, and then a vote is held on social media to determine the top star of the week.
Chriss had four total touchdowns along with only throwing four incompletions in the win. He led touchdown drives at the end, including the go-ahead score on the ground. He joins LSU’s Jayden Daniels as one of the eight “Stars of the Week.” The winner of the vote will be announced on Thursday, with that player being named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
On special teams, it was Dalen Cambre being named Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week. Cambre blocked a punt with the Cajuns trailing in the fourth quarter. It proved huge, as the Cajuns scored and would eventually complete the comeback over the Bobcats.
Cambre was also named the Special Teams Player of the Week for the Louisiana Sports Writers Association after his stellar performance.
The Cajuns have a bye this week before preparing to face Georgia State at Cajun Field for Homecoming on October 21st at 7:00 P.M.
