Here’s my one and ONLY mock draft! During today’s Bumper to Bumper Sports myself and Ben Love went all the way through the first round of the draft. Here’s my picks along with some explanation as to why I picked them.
- Los Angeles Rams Pick Jared Goff
This is an obvious choice. All signs point toward Goff being picked by the Rams, according to numerous sources. We’re just awaiting Roger Goodell to tell us who it is to make it official.
- Philadelphia Eagles: Carson Wentz
This is another one that seems like a done deal. Has a ton of upside, and it seems that the Eagles could make this FCS QB a solid enough player to build their franchise around.
- San Diego Chargers: Laremy Tunsil
I’ve seen some of the big boards having the Chargers not picking up Laremy Tunsil in the three spot. Some have Deforest Buckner going to the Chargers. I could argue for both players, but I’ve got to have Tunsil going over to San Diego to help protect an aging Phillip Rivers, who was sacked 40 times for the second time in his career.
- Dallas Cowboys: Deforest Buckner
The Cowboys have some question marks after this season on the D-Line and one of those solid players in Buckner could help fill the gap that Greg Hardy left. The Cowboys would be dumb to not pick him up at the 4 spot.
- Jacksonville Jaguars: Myles Jack
The Jags need a Linebacker and he’s one of the best in this year’s draft. Hopefully this isn’t a repeat of the Dante Fowler pick from last season.
- Baltimore Ravens: Ronnie Stanley
Stanley is ready to go and start today and could probably play any position on the O-Line for the Ravens.
- San Francisco 49ers: Paxton Lynch
If the 49ers want to dump Kaepernick over to the Broncos (or whoever wants him), this is the guy they will need to get to take his place. Blaine Gabbert was OK last season, but Lynch is going to be the new savior in the city by the bay.
- Cleveland Browns: Joey Bosa
From purely a needs perspective, I could go a number of ways with this pick, but I’ll go ahead and say the Browns get a monster like Joey Bosa who can disrupt the game.
- Tampa Bay Bucs: Vernon Hargreaves
If the Bucs want to compete in the NFC South this year, getting Vernon Hargreaves is your guy. This is someone a lot of people agree with. He’s got a ton of upside and seems like almost a lock at the nine spot.
- New York Giants: Leonard Floyd
Leonard Floyd is a solid pickup and the G-Men will need a solid OLB in the draft. The former Bulldog should be a solid fit right away.
- Chicago Bears: Jalen Ramsey
If Ramsey moves down that far, it’s a steal of the century. He will drop a bit but he’ll be giving Chi-Town a good compliment to Tracy Porter.
- Saints: Shaq Lawson
Shaq Lawson is who the Saints need. I’d love the other Clemson player in Kevin Dodd, but Shaq drops to the Saints, they better pick him.
- Miami Dolphins: Ezekiel Elliot
The Miami Dolphins are an interesting team and could go a number of ways, but they will need a good running back. The former Buckeye could be a big target for the Dolphins.
- Oakland Raiders: Reggie Ragland
The Raiders have addressed a lot of their needs in free agency and getting Ragland will be a boost to their linebacker corps.
- Tennessee Titans: Jack Conklin
If they want to get a return on investment with Mariota, then they need to get a guy to shore up the O-Line. And Conklin is your guy since they dropped down in the trade with St. Louis, thus missing out on Tunsil.
- Detroit Lions: Sheldon Rankins
Rankins is a guy that is dropping to the Lions and is an easy pick for the Lions to help shore up the line.
- Atlanta Falcons: Darron Lee
The Atlanta Falcons have a lot of needs, and getting an outside linebacker like Darron Lee will pay dividends.
- Indianapolis Colts: Taylor Decker
Taylor Decker is an ideal pickup for a team that needs an offensive lineman to help protect Andrew Luck, who had a less than stellar year in 2015.
- Buffalo Bills: Kevin Dodd
The Bills are in desperate need of a defensive end and he can be that guy. He’s a player I have a lot of hope for and has a chance to be something special this year.
- New York Jets: Noah Spence
The Jets could live with a solid defensive end like Spence. Steal of the year.
- Washington Redskins: Beniquez Brown
The Redskins absolutely need a inside linebacker. All the guys they had last year weren’t that great and I don’t like taking a risk on a guy who won’t be able to play in 2016, so I’ll drop down to the next ILB in line.
- Houston Texans: Emmanuel Ogbah
Ogbah could be a good compliment for JJ Watt with a lot of the top DEs already off the board.
- Minnesota Vikings: Laquon Treadwell
Stefon Diggs can’t do it all by himself, and Treadwell can give the Vikings more targets after making it to the playoffs last year.
- Cincinnati Bengals: Corey Coleman
Get ready to see a lot of wideouts go around this point in the first round. This is another guy that should be another target for Andy Dalton.
- Pittsburgh Steelers: Eli Apple
He is a highly ranked cornerback and could be a player that is absolutely necessary.
- Seattle Seahawks: Su’a Cravens
This will be a pretty good steal for the Seahawks who need an outside linebacker.
- Green Bay Packers: Josh Doctson
The Packers need a wide receiver and this guy can help out in a big way.
- Kansas City Chiefs: Will Fuller
Fuller has a lot of potential and could be picked up before this, but he is a guy that the Chiefs will need to get to improve their passing game.
- Arizona Cardinals: William Jackson
He was a stud at the combines. I can’t see the Cardinals picking anyone else.
- Carolina Panthers: Xavien Howard
He is a solid pickup late in the first round and we’ll see if it’s going to be a good replacement for Josh Norman.
- Denver Broncos: Ryan Kelly
The center they currently have stinks and why not pick up the top raked center available?
-Clint Domingue
