After Friday night’s pitcher’s duel, Saturday afternoon became a slugfest between the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (18-13, 7-4 Sun Belt) and Coastal Carolina (19-11, 7-3 Sun Belt).
It seemed like the Cajuns would be able to clinch the series with an 8-5 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth and Dylan Moore on the mound to close things out. After Josh Crump grounded out to start the inning, the Chanticleers began to fight back with a two-run blast from Dalton Ewing.
Moore’s day went from bad to worse as Coastal Carolina would load the bases with Cory Wood up to bat. With a 1-1 count, he hit a two-run single to give them a 9-8 victory.
Moore dropped to 0-1 on the season allowing four runs off of four hits, walked two, and struck out one in his one-third of an inning of work.
The Cajuns will try to win the rubber match on Sunday with first pitch set for 10 am.
