After flirting with the Texas A & M Aggies, LSU Tigers Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda decided to stay in Baton Rouge. Of course almost a 50% raise probably helped (1.8 mill to 2.5 mill) with that decision.
With Aranda staying in house, LSU and Head Coach Ed Orgeron now turn their efforts towards their Offensive Coordinator, Matt Canada. All of the recent reporting still has a separation between Orgeron and Canada pending. While it may be an issue with Canada, previous stops seem to indicate he has problems playing with others, certainly Orgeron has to take some responsibility. Would Coach O be as quick to get rid of Canada if the 3 million that Canada’s owed, came out of Orgeron’s pocket? Food for thought.
More food for thought. Canada moves on, Orgeron brings in his second OC in as many years, and LSU goes 6-6. There would be plenty of reasons for that with the expected turnover of talent. However, it may not matter. I think the big year will be 2019 when Orgeron will be under immense pressure to produce a national champion contender. Having said that, the passionate LSU faithful would probably look to move on from Orgeron.
They won’t have to look to far for their new head coach. He”ll be the one coaching the defense.
