The McNeese Cowboys (1-8, 1-4) will be looking to get its first on-the-field victory when it hosts the visiting Houston Christian University Huskies (5-4, 3-2) on Saturday night.

McNeese has never lost to HCU in five previous meetings and the Cowboys have won the two meetings in Lake Charles by 15 points on each occasion.

Kickoff inside Cowboy Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

SIXKILLER GETS HIS FIRST START
Kamden Sixkiller came off the bench in last week’s loss to Southeastern Louisiana. The Norman, Oklahoma native played well as he completed his first pass for five years and threw a 77-yard touchdown to Jihad Marks. The 6-foo-4, 187-pounder freshman ended the game going 9-of-19 for 130 yards, one touchdown and averaged 14.4 yards per completion. Sixkiller also became the first McNeeese true freshman quarterback to throw for a touchdown since Cody Stroud accomplished the feat in 2010.

SLOWING DOWN HUNT
Jalyz Hunt is one of the best pass-rushing prospects to come out of the Southland Conference. The 6-foo-4, 248-pound senior defensive end-linebacker was named a midseason All-American by Phil Steele, garnering third-team honors, and has received invitations for both the East/West Shrine Bowl and Reese’s Senior Bowl. That will be critical as McNeese has given up 22 sacks on the season. Hunt enters the game leading the Huskies with 7.5 tackles for a loss, five sacks, and three quarterback hurries. Hunt also has two pass breakups and one interception.

SENIOR DAY MEETS HOMECOMING
With McNeese’s homecoming game on Oct. 28 canceled due to Northwestern State scrapping its season, the Cowboys will be combining both homecoming with senior night on Saturday. The homecoming court will be recognized at halftime of the game. McNeese will also be recognizing six players for Senior Day who will be using up their eligibility this season. Those include linebacker Brayden Adams, offensive lineman Jasper Friis, kicker Brandon Hayden, tight end Kyle Klink, long snapper Trey Vondenstein, and defensive lineman Trey Winters.
