The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns racked up weekly honors for the Sun Belt Conference as Laney Credeur was named Player of the Week and Sam Landry was named Pitcher of the Week by the league.
Credeur went 9-12 on the week, boosted by her 6-6 performance in the Saturday doubleheader sweep of South Alabama with three home runs. She was responsible for both early leads on Saturday, with a home run in Game 1 and a two-run single in her first at-bat of Game 2.
Starting with a 2-3 game against McNeese, Credeur had three straight multi-hit games with a pair of three-hit, three-RBI games in the doubleheader. She reached base all nine times by way of a base hit on her way to a .750 batting average.
Landry had 14 scoreless innings during the week as she had three of the four victories for the Cajuns that stretched the win streak to seven games. She allowed six hits, and two walks, struck out 10, and held opponents to a .122 average.
The week started with four shutout innings in Lake Charles before she had 10 innings of scoreless softball while only allowing five hits in the series against the Jags, both games ending in shutouts.
Louisiana swept the conference’s weekly awards for the first time since 2019, with Credeur collecting her first SBC honor. This is Landry’s second Pitcher of the Week nod in 2023 and the fourth in her career. This is the fifth weekly award for Louisiana with Meghan Schorman also getting Pitcher of the Week on February 28 and Karly Heath getting Player of the Week on March 21.
Louisiana will kick off a five-game week with matchups against Baylor and Texas A&M in the midweek before returning to Lamson Park to talk on SBC foe Texas State in a three-game series this weekend.
