LSU right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes, centerfield Dylan Crews, and third baseman Tommy White have been named 2023 First-Team All-Americans by Baseball America.
Skenes, who won the 2023 Dick Howser Award winner and the SEC Pitcher of the Year, had a 13-2 record with a 1.69 ERA in 2023. In 122.2 innings, he walked only 20 batters and set a new SEC record with 209 strikeouts. The Lake Forest, Calif, native led the country in strikeouts and WHIP (0.75), while finishing second in ERA.
He also pledged $10 for every strikeout to Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to spouses and children of fallen or disabled military members.
Crews, the 2023 Golden Spikes Award winner, finished the season with a .426 batting average with 16 doubles, two triples, 18 homers, 70 RBI, and 100 runs scored.
The Longwood, Fla native and SEC Player of the Year led the nation in runs scored and walks (71) while finishing second in on-base percentage (.567) and base hits (110). His .426 average was good for third-best nationally.
Crews reached base in every game of the 2023 season and the final four games of 2022 for a 75-game reached base streak. He’s also a two-time member of the SEC Community Service Team for his work in the Baton Rouge area for families affected by autism.
White, a sophomore from St. Pete Beach, Fla, had a .374 average on the year with 24 doubles, 24 homers, 105 RBI and 64 runs scored. He led the nation in RBI and finished third nationally in total bases (198).
White pledged a portion of his NIL earnings to Empower 225, an organization in Baton Rouge aimed to help youth escape the cycle of poverty and violence by providing resources like educational support, life skills, career preparedness, housing, and mentorship.
