The top three football programs in the state of Louisiana were represented on the LSWA Players of the Week list for Week 13, with LSU’s Jayden Daniels and Louisiana’s Chandler Fields being co-offensive players of the week and Tulane’s Kam Pedescleaux named the defensive player of the week.
Daniels, a finalist for the Heisman, Davey O’Brien, and Maxwell Awards just to name a few, had another big performance against Texas A&M in the regular season finale as he threw for 235 yards and rushed for an additional 120 yards with four total touchdowns. In the contest, he became the fifth player in SEC history to have 50+ total TDs in a regular season (the previous four won the Heisman) while outgaining his opponent in rushing yards on his own for the third time this season.
Chandler Fields has another career day for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns, completing a school-best 90% of his passes for 284 total yards and three touchdowns in a 52-21 victory over ULM to secure a sixth straight bowl bid for the Cajuns, a school record.
Pedescelaux, the Houston native and former Ragin Cajun, forced a pair of turnovers and helped on a third, resulting in a 21-point swing in the contest with UTSA on Friday afternoon. With the win, Tulane will host the American Conference Championship game this week against SMU.
