McNeese linebacker Micah Davey has been named a second-team FCS All-American by FCS Football Central.
The first-team all-conference selection also finished seventh in voting for the Buck Buchanan Award, which goes to the FCS’s top defensive player.
A sophomore from Baton Rouge, Davey led the FBS in total tackles (153), tackles per game (15.3), and solo tackles per game (8.3). His tackles per game mark is a program record while 153 tackles ranks sixth all-time at McNeese.
He had double-digit tackles in every game this season and was the first Cowboy to have 20 or more tackles in back-to-back games (20 vs HCU, 21 vs Lamar). His performance at Lamar was the second most in school history and ninth most in conference history.
Davey is one of five players from the Southland to earn the honor: UIW’s Brandon Porter (2nd team) and Steven Parker (3rd team), Southeastern Louisiana’s Bauer Sharpe (3rd team), and Nicholls’ Jaylon Spears (3rd team).
