After spending the last couple of weeks interviewing several big names across the NFL, the New Orleans Saints have chosen to hire from within for their next head coach.
According to numerous reports, Dennis Allen has been promoted to the role of head coach, taking over for longtime coach Sean Payton, who stepped away from football shortly after the end of the franchise’s 2021 season.
Allen, who had been the defensive coordinator for New Orleans since the 2015 season was the frontrunner for the job while Aaron Glenn and Eric Bienemy were also considered with the latter being interviewed on Sunday.
This will be the second foray into head coaching for Allen who coached the then-Oakland Raiders from 2012-2014 where he went 8-28 overall.
