Final Weekend of Regular Season Just Got Real Interesting For LSU

One of the biggest stories for the SEC has been how incredibly close the standings have been in the world of college baseball. Heading into the final two games of the regular season, it just got really interesting for LSU with what happened on Thursday in the SEC East.

Thursday saw Kentucky take down Florida 12-4 to set up a three-way tie between the Gators, Wildcats, and LSU for the SEC regular season title. It means a lot for all involved when it comes to trying to secure a national seed in the postseason. There is a chance for the Tigers to get the crown, but it will take some serious work over the next 48 hours.

For starters, LSU will need to sweep Mississippi State and based off of last night’s game, they’ll need to get a little more than three runs if they want to hold off the Bulldogs. They will also need Kentucky to take two of three. That would put both teams in the SEC East at 20-10 in conference play and the Tigers at 21-9.

It leaves LSU with a very slim margin of error because if they lose one game this weekend, it would give Kentucky or Florida the SEC title depending on how those games go.
