Flash flood warning issued for SWLA, several roads closed

Posted by Raymond Partsch III on April 24, 2025 in Blogs, Featured, Latest News, Local News, RP3's Blogs

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a flash flood warning for Lafayette, St. Martin, and Iberia Parishes until 9:30 a.m., and for Vermilion Parish until 10:30 a.m. There is also a flood warning in effect for the Vermilion River.

With four to six inches of rain having fallen this morning, flash flooding has already occurred throughout the area, including in Lafayette, Scott, Carencro, Broussard, and Youngsville.

Also, excessive runoff from the rainfall could result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas.

With the severe weather causing flooding and downed trees, there are several road closures across the local area. Here is a list of road closures in Lafayette and St. Martin Parish courtesy of KADN News 15.
