Florida Dominates LSU In Series Opener

Posted by clintdomingue on April 19, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

The LSU Tigers got out of their offensive slump on Thursday night with nine runs off of 16 hits, but it wasn’t nearly enough with the Florida Gators rolling to a 16-9 win.

How It Happened:

The Gators came out of the gates fast with a six-run second inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Brady Smith. Smith struck again in the third with an RBI single, but Cory Acton was the person who put the game out of reach in the top of the fourth with a three-run blast to right field.

Florida made it a 13-0 ballgame in quick fashion with a three-run home run from Brady McConnell. LSU finally got on the board with a Cade Beloso two-run single in the bottom frame, but it wasn’t nearly enough to start a rally down 13-2.

Big Number: 20

The Gators teed off the Tigers pitching staff with 20 total hits, with four of them being home runs and four going for doubles. It was an awful evening to be an LSU baseball fan considering how bad of a beatdown it was.

Player of the Game: Brady Smith

Smith made the most of his evening, going a perfect four-for-four with four RBIs and was a triple short of the cycle on Friday night.

Next Up: Friday vs Florida; First Pitch at 7 pm
