It was an absolute battle for the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday afternoon and a late rally helped them take the first game of the Super Regional from LSU in a 6-4 win.
How It Happened:
The LSU Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI single to center field from Brandt Broussard, scoring Daniel Cabrera. After Antoine Duplantis made it 2-0 with an RBI groundout, Chris Reid increased the lead to 3-0 in the fourth with an RBI single.
Cabrera made it 4-0 in the fifth with an RBI single of his own that went up the middle, but the good times didn’t last long. The Seminoles finally got on the board in the sixth when Matheu Nelson hit an RBI single to third base. Reese Albert then tied things up in the seventh with a three-run bomb to right field.
Florida State got their first lead of the game in the eighth off of a Tim Becker sac fly and Albert finished things up with a solo shot to get one step closer to Omaha.
Big Number: 10
The Tigers pitching staff wasn’t great with ten players getting walked on the afternoon. If you have that kind of performance and giving up that many free passes, it won’t end well.
Player of the Game: Reese Albert
The sophomore was sensational with a pair of home runs that helped get the Seminoles the win over LSU.
