Flushing the Commode Key for Cajuns in Second Half of Season

Posted by clintdomingue on April 3, 2017 in Featured

Cajuns Baseball

The last five games for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns has been a roller coaster. From taking down a red-hot McNeese State team in their ballpark to getting blown out against Southeastern, it has been difficult for the Cajuns to gain some momentum.

However, they’re not letting it get to them as they have taken to a mentality that head coach Tony Robichaux calls flushing the commode.

“We laid an egg Wednesday night; it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I told them after the game ‘Flush the commode. Don’t live in your stench’” Robichaux said after the 11-1 victory over South Alabama on Friday night.

This lesson Robichaux has taught seems to have stuck when it comes to senior Joe Robbins who said after the win “We got our butts kicked on Wednesday night. We had to have a mental check with ourselves, go home look ourselves in the mirror and be like ‘This is not who you want to be'”

These early season struggles have given this team a chance to learn how to get over tough losses because the season is a marathon, not a sprint like other collegiate sports like football.

“We were able to make better adjustments today off of Saturday.” Robichaux said of the team’s performance in a 10-2 win over South Alabama, “That’s a good sign because we’re halfway right now. We’ve got to be able and take a good hard look at us and try to fix some things so hopefully we’re a better team in the second half.”

The season has just hit the halfway mark and with big midweek games coming up against the likes of LSU and Texas, they are ready to get over the hump.
