Football Night In Acadiana Week 1 Preview

Posted by clintdomingue on August 30, 2018 in Blogs, Clint Domingue, Football Night In Acadiana

High school football is in full swing starting this week and the Acadiana area has some notable matchups that you need to keep an eye on!

1. Acadiana High vs Kaplan. It has to be a game that several are keeping an eye on with this being a new era for Rams football with Matt McCullough at the helm and up against a Kaplan team who reached the state semifinals for the first time in over 30 years. Can the veer still be feared? We’ll see on Friday night!

2. Westgate vs Catholic High New Iberia. The Tigers looked like an absolute beast at the Sugar Cane Jamboree, winning 27-0 while the defending Division III State Champs came up short in a defensive battle at the Kiwanis Jamboree. If there was one game that I could go to with no restrictions, this would be it.

3. Northside vs Lafayette Christian Academy. About three years after leaving the program, Trev Faulk returns to Northside High School to coach his Knights to start the season. Faulk has given back to the high school, helping them revitalize the stadium ahead of the opener. It’s going to be a fun matchup, but I’m enjoying the human side of this story.
