Week two for high school football is underway and here’s three matchups that you need to keep an eye on over the next couple of days.
1. Acadiana High vs Ruston.
Acadiana is making this too easy! It’s a battle of the unbeatens and looking specifically at Ruston, they came away with a big upset over 4A power in Neville. The Wreckin Rams will be making a big road trip to Ruston, Louisiana and I’m looking forward to this matchup because it is a battle of the unbeatens.
2. St. Thomas More vs Comeaux.
The Cougars are going to be back inside the friendly confines on Friday night and it’s going to be a fun matchup against the Comeaux Spartans. I had offensive coordinator Shane Savoie on the Football Night In Acadiana Postgame show and he mentioned that this is a game that he’s looking forward to. You’ve got former STM assistant Doug Dotson and his crew going back to Cougar Stadium and will be a true test for this Spartan squad. It’s going to be a fun one and you can hear it all right here on 103.7 the Game.
3. Ascension Episcopal vs Catholic Point Coupee.
I was surprised to see the dominance that Point Coupee had last week in their 61-0 win last week over Port Barre. Meanwhile, the Blue Gators of Ascension Episcopal are always a fun offense to watch, but had a low scoring affair against Erath last week. Can this offense improve from last Friday? It’s gonna be fun to keep an eye on this ballgame.
