The Tampa Bay Rays have called up former UL second baseman Jace Conrad, promoting him to the next level in their organization.
After starting the season with the Bowling Green Hot Rods, Conrad confirmed on social media Thursday that he received a call up to the Florida State League, where he will likely play for the Charlotte Stone Crabs (Advanced A) in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Conrad is currently batting .292 with 11 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 30 RBIs and 21 stolen bases for the Hot Rods, but his bat has been picking up steam mid-season.
The former All-American was named a starter in the Midwest League All-Star Game, where he hit a double off the wall only inches away from a home run.
But it’s not only his bat that is impressing the Rays organization. His career fielding percentage at second base is .986 through 626 innings combined. His fielding percentage at every other position he’s played in a combined 242 innings is a perfect 1.000.
