Louisiana baseball is racking up the offseason accolades.
Four Ragin Cajuns players were named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Baseball Team today, which is the largest number of Cajuns on the squad since 2018.
Carson Roccaforte was the lone player to land on the first-team squad, with Julian Brock, Bo Bonds, and Connor Kimple landing on the second team.
Roccaforte, who was also named to the All-Sun Belt and ABCA All-South teams, had a triple crown for Louisiana this season. Carson led the team in average at .374, homers at 16, and RBIs at 68. He led the team in nine other statistical categories and was the fourth-best hitter in the league, hitting .420 in league play, and finished second in hits, RBI, and bases stolen.
Bo Bonds, now a member of the Toronto Blue Jays organization, had a record of 5-3 last season with a 3.11 ERA. Bonds led the team in punchouts (83) and tied for most wins. He averaged an insane 13.6 strikeouts per game and had an elite outing against South Alabama, striking out 14 (10 straight) in 5.2 innings.
Julian Brock came alive last season for the Cajuns, posting a .303 batting average with seven homers and 35 RBIs in his first season as the full-time starter for Louisiana. He was named to the first-team All-Sun Belt team while posting career numbers in every category.
Defensively, Brock was electric, leading the conference in putouts with 478 and threw out 40% of runners stealing. Brock started 47 straight games at backstop and had 19 multi-hit games.
Connor Kimple was one of the veteran leaders on this team a year ago, hitting .319 with nine home runs and 37 RBIs in his final season. He finished third in hitting, second in slugging percentage, homers, triples, and total bases on the team, spending most of the season as the DH.
Kimple earned SBC Player of the Week honors for the opening weekend of the season, hitting three home runs in three games against then-ranked UC Irvine. Kimple finished that series 5-10 with six RBIs, homering in each game. He finished league play hitting at a .327 average.
This is the first time Louisiana has placed four players on the LSWA team since 2018, when Colten Schmidt, Daniel Lahare, Hogan Harris, and Logan Stoelke were named to the team.
